Young man, there’s no need to feel down.
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young man, ‘cause you’re in a new town
There’s no need to be unhappy.

Young man, there’s a place you can go.
I said, young man, when you’re short on your dough.
You can stay there, and I’m sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It’s fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.

“A female soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan is more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire.”

Because they never see front line action. Skewed data is skewed. Women aren’t allowed to be in Combat Ready Units (don’t ask me why, I couldn’t tell you) and if they are ever attached to one, they cycle them in a way that the probability is small. So small, in fact, that they’re more likely to be eaten by a shark. In the Desert. And then Struck by lightning.

Okay children, time for a history lesson

So on a regular basis here, I see people using the upside-down cross as a symbol to go “fuck yeah Satan I’m so hardcore! Maybe people will like me if I post this!”. Nah, it just makes you look like an idiot. See, if upside down crosses make you hardcore, then there’s a guy who’s more hardcore than all of you, who has it engraved into a throne made of goddamn rock:

That’s right, kids, the Pope set the bar for upside-down-cross-hardcore-ing. See, I’m not religious in the Western sense, I’m a Taoist, but I was raised in a Catholic school and know the tales, so here’s how the story goes: Way back when, the first Pope, Peter, was going to get crucified but he asked to be crucified upside-down because he didn’t feel himself worthy of being crucified the same way as a certain guy from Nazareth. Therefore, the inverted cross is a symbol of sacrifice for God; some idiot just picked it up later and went LOL IT’S UPSIDE DOWN SO IT’S THE ANTICHRIST’S SYMBOL. And now we have a group of sadly misinformed idiots running around thinking they’re hardcore for it.

By all means though, keep using it. It’s hilarious to me.

On top of this, the Pentagram that everyone thinks is a Summoning symbol for the devil is actually a Pagan symbol of faith. Christians, in an effort to show that anything that isn’t Christianity is the devil, branded it this way.

The Differences between Electronic Music Styles

Not everything is dubstep. That’s rule 1. Just cause the bass is really really low does not make it dubstep. Let me show you:

First off, we have standard EDM (Electronic Dance Music). This is music that is upbeat and usually plays synth pretty heavily. The Drums usually have a pretty generic beat: boom-click-boom-click-boom, etc:

Arguru By DeadMau5 (pronounced dead mouse) is a good example.

Then there’s the Industrial Side of Electronica. This will play heavier, might have electric guitar, and break drums.  This is usually darker beats and it may sound eerie.

Here’s an Industrial Mix that shows you what I mean.

Next on the list is Good old fashion Techno. This usually has higher synth registers, a faster beat, repeated lyrics and melodies, and heavy use of Vocoders. A lot of songs have been Techno Remixed- They have electronic sounds and a faster beat.

Here’s a Techno Mix That gives you an Idea of what It is.

After that There’s Trance. Trance does as it’s named. It usually is a repetitive beat that is easy to dance to.

DJ Ephixa has a track that shows you.

And NOW we get to dubstep. Standard Dubstep is usually modulated, Heavy, loud bass and- Well why don’t I let Dubba Jonny Tell you. if you still need an example, here’s Boyz Noize

Then you have Dirty Grindstep, which is what Skrillex *usually* does. Lots of Scream bass, Rock sound, usually a bit darker than standard dubstep.

There’s What Korn’s Been doing, which they’ll tell you is dubstep, but It’s not very wubby. It’s Skrillex mixing the beat, and it’s pretty much what he does. So This is under the same category.

next you have BassStep, which is something Flux Pavilion Loves doing. HEAVY HEAVY bass, usually light, repetitive synth and lyrics.

There’s also Remixes that people do of other songs in a dubstep fashion, which are kind of like techno remixes, only more wub.

Then there’s People who Dubstep other people’s Dubstep. It’s a little silly.

There’s also What I call Cockney step, which is almost a Rusko exclusive.

That’s all the basic Genres. There are more (Dubstep has a million branch offs on it’s own), and there are better examples, I’m sure. But you know the differences now, and please for the love of god GET IT RIGHT.
